Abstract

We study the inverse problem of parameter identification in noncoercive variational problems that commonly appear in applied models. We examine the differentiability of the set-valued parameter-to-solution map using the first-order and the second-order contingent derivatives. We explore the inverse problem using the output least-squares and the modified output least-squares objectives. By regularizing the noncoercive variational problem, we obtain a single-valued regularized parameter-to-solution map and investigate its smoothness and boundedness. We also consider optimization problems using the output least-squares and the modified output least-squares objectives for the regularized variational problem. We give a complete convergence analysis showing that for the output least-squares and the modified output least-squares, the regularized minimization problems approximate the original optimization problems suitably. We also provide the first-order and the second-order adjoint method for the computation of the first-order and the second-order derivatives of the output least-squares objective. We provide discrete formulas for the gradient and the Hessian calculation and present numerical results.  相似文献

We establish the beam models of Goos-Hänchen (GH) and Imbert-Fedorov (IF) effects in tilted Weyl semimetals (WSMs), and systematically study the influences of Weyl cone tilting and chemical potential on the GH and IF shifts at a certain photon energy 1.96 eV. It is found that the GH and IF shifts in tilted type-I and type-Ⅱ WSMs are both almost symmetric about the Weyl cone tilting. Meanwhile, the GH and IF shifts in type-I WSMs almost do not change with the tilt degree of Weyl cones, while those in type-Ⅱ WSMs are extremely dependent on tilt degree. These trends are mainly due to the nearly symmetric distribution of WSMs conductivities, where the conductivities keep stable in type-I WSMs and gradually decrease with tilt degree in type-Ⅱ WSMs. By adjusting the chemical potential, the boundary between type-I and type-Ⅱ WSMs widens, and the dependence of the beam shifts on the tilt degree can be manipulated. Furthermore, by extending the relevant discussions to a wider frequency band, the peak fluctuation of GH shifts and the decrease of IF shifts occur gradually as the frequency increases, and the performance of beam shifts at photon energy 1.96 eV is equally suitable for other photon frequencies. The above findings provide a new reference for revisiting the beam shifts in tilted WSMs and determining the types of WSMs.  相似文献

In this paper, in terms of the Fréchet normal cone, we establish exact separation results for finitely many disjoint closed sets in an Asplund space, which supplement the extremal principle and some fuzzy separation theorems. We study the convex hull of a set arising as a relaxation of difficult convex mixed integer quadratic programs (MIQP). We characterize the extreme points of the convex hull of the set and the extreme points of its continuous relaxation. We derive four quadratic cutting surfaces that improve the strength of the continuous relaxation. Each of the cutting surfaces is second-order-cone representable. Via a shooting experiment, we provide empirical evidence as to the importance of each inequality type in improving the relaxation. Computational results that employ the new cutting surfaces to strengthen the relaxation for MIQPs arising from portfolio optimization applications are promising.  相似文献

We study the convex hull of the intersection of a disjunctive set defined by parallel hyperplanes and the feasible set of a mixed integer second order cone optimization (MISOCO) problem. We extend our prior work on disjunctive conic cuts (DCCs), which has thus far been restricted to the case in which the intersection of the hyperplanes and the feasible set is bounded. Using a similar technique, we show that one can extend our previous results to the case in which that intersection is unbounded. We provide a complete characterization in closed form of the conic inequalities required to describe the convex hull when the hyperplanes defining the disjunction are parallel.  相似文献

The energetic stability, atomic and electronic structures of α-graphyne and its derivatives (α-GYs) with extended carbon chains were investigated by density functional (DF) calculations in this work. The studied α-GYs consist of hexagon carbon rings sharing their edges with carbon atoms N=1–10. The structure and energy analyses show that α-GYs with even-numbered carbon chains have alternating single and triple C–C bonds (polyyne), energetically more stable than those with odd-numbered carbon chains possessing continuous double C–C bonds (polycumulene). The calculated electronic structures indicate that α-GYs can be either metallic (odd N) or semiconductive (even N) depending on the parity of number of atoms on hexagon edges despite the edge length. The semiconducting α-graphyne derivatives are found to possess Dirac cones (DC) with small direct band gaps 2–40 meV and large electron velocities 0.554×106–0.671×106 m/s, 70–80% of that of graphene. Our DF studies suggest that introducing sp carbon atoms into the hexagon edges of graphene opens up an avenue to switch between metallic and DC electronic structures via tuning the parity of the number of hexagon edge atoms.  相似文献
